You may remember that I fell for Leila’s Turkish delight spindle back at Sock Summit. Leila’s quite the enabler. She was trying to get me to try out her spinning wheel at OFFF, but I’m not falling for that. Yet.
Last week at the WWSiPD event, Rachel fell for my Turkish spindle. She bought one at OFFF.
I think Rachel is stalking me. First, the February Lady Sweater. Then the Turkish Delight. Next, she says she’ll be making some Leyburn socks…
Anyway, when Tammy saw my spindle last week and Rachel’s spindle this week, she had to have one, too.
Leila enabled another spinner, my friend S (seen here). Who then enabled L. (Names are hidden to protect the innocent.)
And so it goes. Pretty soon, you get this:
All Turkish. Except Duffy. We let her spin with us, anyway, because she’s nice. She and I broke out into song: One of these things is not like the other. Shades of Sesame Street!
By the way, my new Maya Floral bag from Lantern Moon is perfect for holding a little bit of roving and my Turkish Delight. I love it!
That’s a cute idea. I’ve been wondering what the perfect bag was going to be to hold my spindle and fluff.
For your spindle, you’ll need a taller bag! I think a wine bottle carrier (those cylinder boxes) would be perfect; I have one and will use it for my top whorl spindle. LM also makes long silk taffeta bags that would be a good fit.
This happened with me, too! I saw my friend Mary’s Turkish spindle, liked it, bought one, bought another couple, showed them to people at festivals, spread it to yet others (at least 4 that I know of)…
What kind of Turkish spindle do you have?
Oh, I’m glad I didn’t stick around… or maybe I’m not. I really want one of those Turkish spindles, but my bank account does not want me to have one. I should have at least brought my spindle and cried “help!”
LOL! I remember Leila! I met her at the Rav party and she enabled me with the alpaca roving! Went straigh to A Verb For Keeping Warm’s booth and grabbed up a skein of Tactile alpaca roving! You guys are pretty funny! And yes, do try a wheel-their pretty fun, too!
You’re a bag enabler too?! 😉 Silk and purple and Lantern Moon, can’t go wrong there.
Can’t say I’m into spinning but I certainly know what you mean about being ‘enabled’ and adding to the crafty ‘stuff’ you do! All I need is more projects and crafty bits and pieces around the house!
Looks like a lot of fun. Love the bag!
It’s an epidemic! I’ve got to get me one of those, I’ll look for one at Rhinebeck. I can’t spin at all on my spindle maybe that one will be better.
One of my guild friends is enabling me to buy a wheel too. Next year, may be. I like spindling a lot, even if I don’t have a Turkish spindle.
Wasn’t OFFF fabulous! Look at all that spinning going on! Wonderful!!!
Try the wheel. You’ll love it!
I adore my Turkish spindle too. I don’t blame your friend for having to follow suit.
