Dotty Cake is a layer-cake shaped hat that is fun to knit and wear. Herringbone braids mark the layers, and slip stitch dots create a confetti frosting look. Choose two contrasting worsted weight yarns; a gradient or ombre yarn makes a great statement, as either the main color or the contrast color.
The hat is knit in the round from the bottom up in worsted weight yarn, and only one color is used per round in the dotty stitch sections.
The quick increases for the crown create a flattering kaleidescopic flat top, similar to the top of a tam or beret.
