I’m playing a little game of yarn chicken. Do you think there’s enough yarn left for me to get 1050 stitches? Yes or no. Leave a comment, and I’ll do a random drawing from the correct answers when I find out. Winner gets something fun from my stash!
Yarn chicken is always more fun with wine, yes?
In other news, I’m teaching three classes at Twisted next week: Monday Cast On, Bind Off, Saturday Tink Drop Frog and Blocking. I know it’s summer and you’re not sure you want to be playing with wool, but we have air conditioning! Sign up now and make it happen!
Pretty pretty yarn! I’d say you have 938 stitches worth of yarn there… oh so close!
Ooh, that’s going to be close! But I’m going to say yes. And have a glass of wine on your behalf.
Well- I really need a qualifier, but if I know the yarn weight, that would probably make it too easy. I say you can get about 3/4ths of the way with what you have left. So about 790 stitches.
Very nice yarn – my guess is 1017 stitches
im going to say no. i think you have 1029 there
I’m not going to give a number, but my guess is no, you’re going to be short. Now you could possibly cheat and try to go down a needle size and hope its not terribly noticeable to make it work.
Mmm…looks like Malabrigo Silky Merino? I’m going to say no, there’s not enough yarn there for 1,050 stitches. But hopefully I’m wrong and you’ll be able to finish your lovely project!
I think it’s gonna be close, but my vote is YES- you will make it. I will guess even further that you will have 1 inch to spare 🙂
I’m going to be optimistic. Yes.
I gone to have to say no. Maybe 3/4 of your needed stitches. Yikes!
I say yes.
I don’t know whether yarn chicken is more FUN with wine, but it’s probably less stressful!
Ever the optimist I’d say yes, go for it, but tie a marker halfway along the yarn and if you don’t make half the required stitches there is less to tink!
That’s smart!
Winner!
Yes (you’ll make it happen)
I hate to say it… But I don’t think you are gonna make it! So… Nope!
Yes, you’ll make it! A be sure to count those stitches AFTER the you’ve finished the wine!
No!
If your luck is anything like mine. I’ll say no not enough
I hate to say no, but I’m afraid you’re not going to make it. However, best of luck!
Sorry, not gonna make it 😦
I’m another no vote….sorry! But that doesn’t look like enough. I hope I’m wrong! (Unless I win.)
I know for fact that you aren’t going to tighten up your tension to make it happen; so, the answer is NO. Sorry, pal, I know how you want to keep it one-skein wonder. Time for modification :3
I’m feeling optimistic, so I’m going to say yes (but just barely)!
Yes. That is exactly 18″ more than you need. 🙂
I just finished a game of yarn chicken. That ribbed blue scarf has taken 1 step forward and 2 steps back for the last full pattern repeat. Then I began to wonder if there was even enough yarn for the last bit. Ugh. Turns out there was, and even also for Jenny’s surprisingly stretchy bind off. So yay! Im weaving in ends tonight. I hate weaving in ends.
I’m going for a yes – with fingers crossed and almost no yarn leftover.
I’m thinking yes as well, I’m certainly hoping so, for your sake!
I say yes! Oh man Im a sucker for purple yarn!
Yes, you’ll be fine. Piece of cake 🙂
I’m thinking no unfortunately. I wish it were otherwise! And if it were my own, I’d probably blithely convince myself the answer is yes.
758. If I’m right please give the prize to #2. Dee
Yes! Knit on!
Such a pretty color purple! I am going to send positive knitting vibes your way and say YES!
Yes! I’m a knitting optimist!
Yes
No
I’m going to have to go with no as well – that just doesn’t look quite like enough. But who knows, maybe I’ll be wrong!
I’m going to say yes, but just barely. The trick is to knit faster.
I hope I’m wrong, it’s happened before, but no. You’re going to run short. Linda’s knot tying suggestion is a good one.
I’m always the optimist when it comes to hoping to finish with a specific amount of yarn, so I say Yes… Good luck!

I’m not an optimist when it comes to yarn chicken! I say “no” (not even worth it if you are a few stitches short!
