Sock Summit: I’m in!

That was a wild romp with the Sock Summit server this morning! It kept timing out, but the clock was still ticking, and I'd go back in and see that whatever it was that I tried to add didn't make it, so I had to try again. I finished registration with 48 seconds to spare (they gave a 15 minute hold).

I’m sorry that it didn’t go as smoothly as planned, after all the hard work into the wee hours by Stephanie and Tina. (Stephanie’s updates on twitter were quite informative.) If you didn’t get in, try again; classes that were being held during those 15 minute hold periods go back to the queue if the registration doesn’t go through, and apparently there was also a server glitch that made things look full when they weren’t.

Here’s what I’m taking:

Dancing with Socks with Cat Bordhi
Sock Design Workshop: Know the Rules, Then Break Them with Star Athena
Hooked on Beads with Sivia Harding (one hour wonder)

I’m looking forward to these classes, and to just checking out the market and hanging out with knitters!

And because I can’t run a post without a picture, here are the stitch markers I made to use in Cat Bordhi’s class. The picture is a re-run, but it’s a picture!

  1. I got in to both of Cat’s Classes, both of JC Briar’s classes and the Colorful Stitches class. Plus the opening thing, sock hop and luminary panel. I’m so excited!!

  2. Still not sure if I ended up double booking as I didn’t receive the confirmation email the first time even though my visa card was charged.

Anyway, I look forward to meeting you at the sock summit.

You are going to have so much fun during the sock summit! Congrats you’re in!

  4. Great classes. Wasn’t there a class about submitting designs or was that TKGA? I might book you for a shift with me if you have a spare moment! This is going to be major huge!

  5. Yeah! After a rocky start, I think most of us got something that satisfied our needs. 🙂

I got into Amy Singer’s class on Making the Next Monkey, which should be helpful with my budding design ideas. 🙂 And I got the luminary panel, reception, and sock hop, too. Can’t wait! 🙂

  6. I am green with envy, this summit sounds incredible, vacation times at work were already completely booked (sob). Please post your experience at this summit so the left out ones like me can at least get a taste of it.

  7. Lucky you! Those classes sound amazing. I’m going to try my best to make it out there for the Sock Summit, but I didn’t sign up for any classes since my moving schedule might force me to cancel at the last minute. But I’m looking forward to some good sock yarn shopping and fun time with knitters!

  8. whoooo hooooooo! glad you made it in

  12. Why can’t Oregon be closer to NJ? I so wish I could go but I’ll have to depend on you to tell all and take really good pictures, you lucky girl.

  13. It’s like sleeping with the alarm clock to call in and register for the hot teacher’s lecture in college! Glad you made it in.

  14. Those classes sounds great! I really wanted to go to the Sock Summit, but sadly it didn’t work out. Hope you have a wonderful time!

  15. Registering was quite an adventure for me too! I’m in Star Athena’s class on Thursday afternoon. I wish I were in the Friday session, but, after the server issues cleared up, I got wild-eyed and grabbed the first open slot I saw.

  16. Lovely stitch markers! ::hits self on head:: I still need to get on that whole learn how to knit socks thing…
    ❤ Em

  19. You are so so so so lucky to be going! I so wish I could be there….the classes sound great!

  20. All this talk of Sock Summit has me itching to go! I’ve even been checking airline ticket prices from my town to PDX, and it is a steal. Hm, is it worth it to go just for the marketplace? That’s what I need to determine.

  21. Good for you for getting in! It sounds like it will be an amazing event. I was pretty shocked by some of the vitriol about it though.
