This issue is all about hands: how we use our hands, how we care for our hands, what we make for our hands. I spy some familiar items in this pile.

I’m pleased to have a pattern in this issue. My Metronome Mitts are knit in entrelac, back and forth, little squares. Originally they were going to be just pink/white/green, a stashbuster project in Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift, but I got a wild hair and had to knit some with Noro Silk Garden Sock, too.

I like both versions!

Purl is a new magazine; this is the second issue. Each issue has a theme that is explored with in-depth articles and featured patterns. The first issue did a deep dive on cast ons. I just read my copy over the weekend while I was away. I learned some cool new things. (Have you ever thought about a stockinette tab cast on instead of a garter tab cast on? Thank you Safiyyah Talley!) And there is a lot that I’m keeping for later reference. Future issues will feature ribbing, seamless knitting, finishing, and necklines.

I’m looking forward to reading the articles in this issue. Do you subscribe to any knitting magazines?
