A life-long love affair with all things French is the inspiration for this lacy edged shawlette. The knitting begins at the lower edge with waves of lace like a can-can dancer’s frilly petticoat, and continues with a row of iconic Eiffel Towers. This crescent shawlette is shaped with simple short rows, and finished with a garter stitch eyelet border at the upper edge. Ooh la la!
This design was the May 2013 offering of the Twisted Shawlette Club. Paris in May, indeed!
The crescent is shaped with simple short rows. No wrapping at the turns is required.
The pattern offers two sizes, and uses one 100 gm/420 yard skein of luxury fingering weight yarn. Larger size is shown in Knitted Wit Shine, colorway Brown Sugar. Smaller size is shown in Blissful Knits BFL Silk Sock, colorway Platinum. Gauge is 22 stitches per 4 inches in stockinette stitch; I used a US size 5 needle. Charts and line by line instructions for the lace pattern are included.
This pattern is available for $6 USD. You can purchase this pattern as a pdf file through Ravelry.com; payment is through PayPal and it’s an automatic download. Just click the ”buy now” button and you’ll be guided through the process.
