When I said I was knitting away on my second Luminos Tee, I really was knitting, away. I took a trip to the Oregon Coast with my friend Vickie. She’s a forever friend; we went to University of Oregon, way back when. She’s the source of my blueberry cobbler recipe!

We went to Yachats, which is near Cape Perpetua. Yachats has a lot of rocky shoreline which is great for rock hopping and tidepooling.

Wall of marine life: mussels, barnacles, starfish, anemones, dogwinkles, crabs

the starfish are back!
I’m glad to see the starfish are recovering; there were several years of starfish wasting disease where their numbers were down.

I love tidepooling.
We went to the visitors center at Cape Perpetua. I was last here in 2022.

This shelter was built by the CCC in the 1930s. Workers (young men who needed jobs during the Depression) earned $30/month. They kept $5, and $25 went home to the family.

It was a quick and efficient getaway! I’m planning one more before the summer is over; I like short trips. Do you have summer travel plans?

Great photos! I love Yachats, good place to be knitting away.

Yachats has so much going on. Some nice restaurants (we dined at the Drift Inn and Luna Sea), cute shops, and a great farmers market on Sundays. Missed the market this time, but I went there in June when I was in Alsea. Access to Cape Perpetua is a bonus!
A beautiful part of the world. Thanks for sharing.
You’re very welcome! The Oregon Coast is my happy place.
Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us. The photos were beautiful and let me share the experience.
You’re welcome! I wish you could feel the cool breeze and inhale the salt air, too.
I wish I could, too. Here in San Antonio, Texas it is 100° today with no breeze. AC is great but I miss the pleasure of being outside.
It has been a cooler summer than most recent ones here. I’ll take it!
What a great getaway with your friend! Any time by the ocean is wonderful 🙂 CCC did some amazing building work – you can always tell when they built something because it is always well constructed and beautiful as well.
The coast is my happy place; I love shorelines!
Yes, those CCC projects were amazing. The WPA also did great work; Timberline Lodge is still most impressive!
