I finished this pair of Thrumbelina slippers at 3:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Daylight was fading, and I wanted to get a quick picture, so I put my log cabin blanket on the floor for a background.
Some cats can’t resist things on the floor. Mookie will sit on a sheet of paper, just for the novelty value.
A better picture of the slippers, but not quite what I was looking for.
I finally just put the slippers on the piano. Good enough! I love how Knitted Wit‘s merino roving coordinated perfectly with the purples in the Madeline Tosh Merino. Carole called me to tell me the slippers are a perfect fit. Twice! She’s such an appreciative knit recipient, because she knows how much time and effort go into a knit gift. She’s not a knitter, but she makes beautiful things, including the necklace I wore on Christmas morning.
Did you knit gifts this year? How were your handknits received?
A lace quiviut scarf went over very well. I only knit/sew for people who I know appreciate the work. New people get simple things and their reactions are closely observed and judged. If the reaction is not up to snuff, well, they get bought things. I will spend time on me, my husband, my mom, a couple of friends, and now my sister-in-law and nieces. I had sent the SIL a baby quilt for the new little one and she actually came looking for me at a family gathering to say how wonderful it was and how hard I must have worked. She didn’t even know it, but she’s in like flynn now. LOL
Exactly right! Only knit for those who truly appreciate it; we certainly don’t save money knitting, and it costs a lot of time.
Those look amazingly warm! And they’re cat-approved. Cat-approved is important.
That color combination is great! Mookie is nicely color-coordinated with the slippers as well — maybe that’s what she was saying?
They look WONDERFULLY comfortable!
