So close, and yet so far…

I can see that I’m not going to get 56 more stitches out of the remaining yarn. I bought another 50 gram skein, and I’ll figure out what to do with the 48 grams I’ll have left!

In the meantime, I made these.

They’re just those gingersnap cookies that show up this time of year. I used our mini ice cream scoop and filled them with peppermint ice cream. Then I drizzled them with chocolate truffle sauce (recipe here). They’re back in the freezer, firming up.

And the Day Old Pastries sang Mary, Mary in church yesterday. I love singing with my Pastry friends. We’re not perfect, but we have a lot of fun.

Busy, busy, busy! Knitting and shopping not done. But I’m off to a party…

  1. UGHHH! At least you could get some more yarn, honey! I ran into the same thing with some handspun and had to some very create “things” to make it all work 😉

  2. It’s a nice looking yarn, it would make a lovely hat. Maybe one of the tams that Knitty had a year or so ago with some nice Silk Garden?

Those gingersnaps are good! Course most are unless they do strange things to them like put raisins inside. 😉

  3. Oh I HATE it when that happens! I hope you’ll find something really nice to make with the leftovers.

  4. Oh what a shame to run out of yarn when you’re so close. Your ice cream cookies look delish! The thought of peppermint and ginger is intriguing.

  5. I think I would rather run out of yarn when I needed most of the skein – at least then I would use what I bought. Glad you can get more.

  6. The “Day Old Pastries” is an amazing name!!!

  7. I hate it when yarn runs out so close to the end.
    Also, cute gingersnaps!

  8. That’s awful! At least you could get your hands on another ball quick.

  9. Aw. Been there done that! Fortunately yarn doesn’t go bad. Eventually you will find the perfect use for it.

I haven’t baked any cookies yet so it’s fun looking at the holiday treats on the blogs I’m reading!

  10. Sounds like a spinning challenge…with little yardage you need, it’s a perfect candidate to spin up something to match in your beautiful drop spindles. A little bit of the yummy cookies…with beautiful holiday music playing…I am so ready for Christmas…2 days away. Thanks for all the wonderful eye-candy treats. Have a happy holiday and joyous New Year!

  11. Nothing irritates me more than running out of yarn!
But you have the cookies to soften things a bit. Gosh they look yummy…

  12. Sorry about the yarn – but those cookies look so good!

    Have a very Happy Holiday!
