Winter = hand knits

I’m at home today while contractors install insulation under the floor of my living room and dining room. That means a day of putting up Christmas and Hanukkah decorations and baking for an event on Sunday.

I’ve decorated the wreath on the front porch:

You can find my free pattern for these ornaments here. I always put mini candy canes in the stockings for the kids that walk by on their way to school.

The stockings are hung:

And the tree is up, too.

tree

Yes, this is all the tree I can manage. A few favorite ornaments, and I’m done. Mookie likes to chew on real trees, and then she gets sick. Who needs that?

Oh, btw, Mookie wants to go to Paris.

She takes after me. C’est vrai. J’adore Paris!

You Belong in Paris

You enjoy all that life has to offer, and you can appreciate the fine tastes and sites of Paris.

You’re the perfect person to wander the streets of Paris aimlessly, enjoying architecture and a crepe.

.
Did any of you happen to catch the convergence of Venus, Jupiter, and the moon? They were at their closest this last Monday. I was flying home on Sunday night and saw it out the window of the plane. Some unknown (to me) town was underneath.

convergence

It’s hard to get a picture of a night sky from an airplane window with a point and shoot camera!

May your days be merry and your nights be magical.

  1. Those tiny stockings are so adorable!!!!

  2. I have wanted to make those tiny stockings but haven’t tried yet. Those and mini sweaters are my last on my to do list before Christmas sigh

  3. Such a cute wreath!!!

  4. I love all the knit decorations! Did you make the big stockings too?

  5. Wow, love the mini stocking wreath! And the stockings hung by the chimney as well!

  6. You Belong in Dublin
Friendly and down to earth, you want to enjoy Europe without snobbery or pretensions.
You’re the perfect person to go wild on a pub crawl… or enjoy a quiet bike ride through the old part of town.

We’ve had the tree up, but undecorated because of schedules. I’m in a class all weekend but hope to either do it tonight or in the evening this weekend.

I too have the mini’s in my list that I’d like to do – socks, sweaters, etc.

The Simply Knitting had an Alan Dart Christmas tree in the supplement. He did it with faux fur but someone else did a version that looked like JoAnn’s Sensations yarn. A Mookie alternative, unless she would look upon it as a large cat toy…..(http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/advent-tree-tree)

  7. J’adore Paris, aussi! Merci beaucoup pour l’instructions pour le chausettes de Noel. Okay – enough of that – college french was a loooong time ago. Great wreath idea!

  8. What a cute sock wreath! If I thought I could muster the energy this month, I’d attempt to make one for myself!

Love your sky pictures, too. I’m a total night sky geek. It’s been so cloudy here lately, though, that I’m not getting to enjoy the winter sky much, which is a bummer.

    BTW…I belong in Dublin! 🙂

  9. I have that same lamp! It’s on my bedside table currently. I also got the same result from that European city quiz. 😉

  10. Venus and Jupiter, yes? I’ve been trying to get a decent shot of them for a few nights now, but all I ever have on me when I have a great view is my Blackberry.

  11. I love your wreath! We’ve just started decorating, but seeing your house is egging me on.

  12. Mookie is just like my cats. Last year, we had our first and last real Christmas tree in the house. It was not pretty…

    Cute stockings!

  13. Did you knit those big stockings too? I like the turtle ornament on your tree. We put up our Christmas tree, M had lots of fun with that.
