Looking at next month, I hereby declare February to be entrelac month. I’m teaching two entrelac classes at Twisted. One is for Athena, which is entrelac in the round, on Saturday, February 5.
And the other class is for Infinity, which is entrelac knit flat (so it has side triangles), with a bit of lace in the center rectangles.

My third project at Crafty Mom Weekend was another Athena neckwarmer. This is the fourth; the first three were gifted and sampled away. How do I know that this one is going to be mine, for sure?
I made a mistake on the edge of the first rectangle of a tier, and didn’t realize it until I was all the way around. (We were watching a movie…) There were a couple loose hang-y strands staring at me. I couldn’t face ripping the entire tier back, so I fudged it. I picked up the stitches for the next rectangle one stitch inside the edge, instead of on the edge. It hardly shows from the front; you’d have to know where to look. I’d hate to give a defective(!) knit as a gift, so this one *must* be mine, right? I’ll be happy to finally have my own!
It’s not done yet; I had one more project that was begging to be worked on. More in the next post…
I’ve been wondering: If I knit Athena one block narrower, would I be able to do it with one ball of Taos? The answer is…
Almost. But No. I made it all the way through the triangle blocks, but didn’t have enough to bind off. So now I know. This Athena is quite cozy at 20 inches around, yet still roomy enough, but since I have to buy the second ball of Taos anyway, why not make it more squooshy? So my next one will be at the size specified in the pattern. Wait, did I say next? Yes. It turns out this Athena isn’t for me after all. The colors are perfect for my friend D. And she’s having an Important Birthday. So off it goes.

But I can’t knit another Athena right now. I promised myself that when I finished, I’d cast on for the Leyburn KAL on Ravelry. And so I shall. Tonight.
I finished my second Athena entrelac neck warmer last night. Purling back backwards (not turning the work each row) makes this go pretty quickly. But it looks like this Athena won’t be for me. She’ll be going on to her new life as a shop model. Shannon and Emily will be selling the hard copy pattern at Twisted, and they’d like a sample. Done! So I picked up more Taos and will make another one for myself, in a bit. Check out this color:
And I bought myself a little present for the next one: 16″ ebony circulars from Lantern Moon. Mmmmm, I love these needles. I didn’t realize that they made 16″ circulars, but now that I know, I had to get a few. Great tools make knitting even more of a pleasure!
I’m also dreaming of some quick worsted weight socks, because it’s cold and snowy, and my boots are just a tad big so there’s room. I think I’ll use some stash KnitPicks Wool of the Andes and make something fun with a color pattern, because I have a lot of bits of different colors left from other projects.
I guess I should be cleaning my house for Christmas, but if I clean it now, it will be messy by Christmas Eve. Maybe tomorrow!
