knitting like crazy

…but I can’t really show you yet. Here’s a little peek.

Look at this gorgeous yarn I got from Lorajean (Knitted Wit) last week!

A perfect cloudy gray…

with sparkles! We have a little project in the works…

Have a great Thanksgiving. I’m not cooking…but I’m in charge of gravy, comme d’habitude. I can handle that. It’s been a rough month, but I have a lot to be thankful for. I’m lucky to have my family, an interesting and rewarding job, and to be able to knit for fun, design a bit, teach knitting, and blog both here and for Lantern Moon. I’m having a little giveaway on the Lantern Moon blog; click over and enter.

Are you knitting for the holidays? I’m not! Too much pressure. There may be gifts, but I’m not obligated to knit for anyone. Gifts happen sometimes, but mostly incidentally or by inspiration. That’s how I roll…

  1. Love your thoughts on holiday knitting and I wholeheartedly agree. Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. Love the way you roll! I unfortunately got caught up in the whole “my-nieces-won’t-be-little-for-long-and-I-just-designed-a-hat-and-scarf-set” thing so I sure am knitting like crazy! Have a happy and peaceful Thanksgiving.

  3. Happy Thanksgiving! That gray yarn is so beautiful!

  4. No gift knitting for me. You are right. Too much pressure.

However, I do have a pair of socks for Steve on the needles. They will probably be done just about Christmas time. I may wrap them as a “joke”.

The sparkles yarn is so pretty. Can’t wait to see what it wants to be.

  5. Oooh, that sparkly yarn is wonderful! It makes me think of clouds with silver linings.

Ooh, I bought that very same yarn at OFFF! Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Have a safe and happy holiday!

  7. My big plans for everyone at the beginning of the year have gone by the wayside. I’ve scaled back and am doing dishcloths and have some ideas for baskets for like a ‘spa day’ or special meal. I’ll probably buy stuff for the kids, but have a really restricted budget.

I’ll cook a ham for the family, but we go down for the big family dinner in Corvallis. So making deviled eggs, maybe a pie and Brandon is deciding what he’ll make to bring along. Hope yours is great!

  8. The entrelac mystery is looking deliciously good! Hurry up…I want to see the whole thing ^-^

I really enjoyed knitting with Knitted Wit shimmer and have a couple skeins in my stash awaiting for a lace or two after some shop samples, stuff for holiday sales, a few local charities…and oh, yes, holiday gifts for immediate families and a holiday gift exchange. Not sure what I will make for the families yet…usually I don’t get ideas until last-minute crunch.

There will be a lot of cooking/baking at my inlaws over next few days. We will be busy…Wish you a Happy Thanksgiving holiday!

  9. Have a very Happy thanksgiving! Can’t wait to see what the lovely gray yarn becomes.

  10. I’m intrigued!

On the gift front, I’ve got 1.5 gifts left to knit, and I am stressing about them. I’m a slow knitter, for one thing. For another, I can’t take them with me on my t-giving travels; one is for someone who will be there and the other is too bulky for air travel!

  11. Happy Thanksgiving! I am doing knitting for the holidays – sometimes I wish I wasn’t, but in the end I think it will be good. It is a lot of pressure though!

  12. The mystery knit has the most gorgeous colors, it reminds me of hydrangeas and violets, so pretty. The gray yarn would make a gorgeous cowl! Do share what you end up creating with it.
