WWKIP Day: Where did you knit?

June 13, 2009 · 22 Comments

I made it to two WWKIP Day events. The first was at the Hollywood Farmers’ Market. I met the organizer, BubblesAnne from Ravelry. It was great to meet her in person; last fall I knit several squares for a charity afghan she was making. We knit, met some nice people, and answered questions about why were were knitting at the market. I forgot to bring my camera, and completely forgot about pictures.

I also went to Pioneer Courthouse Square to knit with Melissa, KnitFemme on Ravelry and Twitter. She said they’d be on the stair, so I circled the place and didn’t see any knitters on the stairs.

Then I noticed the group at the end of the flowers. There were a few more people at this gathering, and even more after I took this picture with my phone!

Don’t ask me names, though; I’m really bad with names. I think that’s Emily on the left? I do know that she made the most delicious vegan chocolate chip cookies. Wow!

After all the knitting fun, I helped DH at a wine-tasting event. The wine was tasty, and so were the Moonstruck Chocolates!

Here’s the sky at the end of the event:

Where did you knit today?

Sounds like fun! I knit at the park in downtown Boston and met some nice knitters too. There were fewer knitters there than I expected, though.

I knit at the local cafe while at breakfast. That’s a cheat though, cuz I always knit at that cafe when we eat there!

    Cool sky shot!

Sounds like you had a great Saturday!

What a lovely place to knit outdoors! Glad you went to two events making up for my not going to any. I’ll try to get out to kip today though!

Sounds like fun – what a beautiful place to knit! I had a knitting group yarn crawl so we knit at lunch and at the yarn store…does that count as knitting in public?

Susan, what a terrific day— knitting out of doors and wine tasting to boot! Your group at the Courthouse Square looks so inviting, too ;)

I knitted in line yesterday while waiting to be seated for my son’s dance class perfomance. Morgan took a pic of me and told me I should blog about it… we’re all on the same wavelength!

Apologies Michele… don’t know what made me call you Susan!
    Losing it.

Lucky you! I’m so jealous. I didn’t make it to any events. Hopefully, next weekend I will. (I think it goes again next weekend?)

Fun! My Mother-In-Law (visiting from Sacramento) & my BKFF (Best Knitting Friend Forever) – Margaret (Winston’s Mom) met at the Loussac Library in Anchorage. Small turn out, but fun to get together. I forgot my camera too! Knit on!

That looks like a fun gathering. I missed any events near me (wasn’t aware of any, WWKIP sorta snuck up on me), but I managed to knit a bit of my sock while having a mocha at Starbucks.

I knit at a LYS in Rehoboth Beach, DE. So fun! I actually wrote down names but not all of them. And I didn’t get any Ravelry names. But there weren’t any flowers as pretty as those.

I knit at my wedding reception!!!! There were only 5 of us, but out of 75 people I’d say that’s a pretty good percentage ;)

Great sky photo – wish I could have sent you some of the incredible lightning/hail storm we had here.

My fingers are so beat up from trying to learn beginner guitar that I can’t even think of knitting. There is a new yarn store that opened up next door to the Conservatory and they may have local yarns. I’ll check it out for you. Dee

Once again, I missed out on the local WWKIP event. :::sigh::: One of these years! But really? I knit in public all the time, so that has to count for something, right?

That looks like a really fun get-together! I didn’t get to KIP as we were visiting my mother. Knitted a lot there though!

I knit at my daughter’s baccalaureate on Sunday. But I’m hosting a Sock Skool at my home this coming Saturday, another of the WWKIP days this year. :)

    In Hillsboro. ;-) http://pnwbookgirl.blogspot.com/2009/06/world-wide-knit-in-public-day.html

We had 50+ knitters, crocheters and spinners. 40 lucky ones got goodie bags with samples from five local dyers, coupons to three LYS, three patterns, and stitchmarkers. Then there were the door prizes provided by the LYS – yarns and books. It was also a lovely day as the rain held off until later.

Next year you know the one you’ll want to be at! ;-)

We have a nice little park in our downtown area (where a store used to stand) – It has a gazebo and I got the idea to knit down there during the noon hour – three other friends joined me – I was hoping the local paper would take a picture, but they didn’t – of course, none of us thought of itl either! This was our first year – maybe we will have more people join us next year in Fort Scott, Kansas -
